There is no difference between Xenon and HID bulbs - they are the same. Of the two different names, HID (High-Intensity Discharge) is the more common and popular one. Some people even call them Xenon HID bulbs.

So, why did we also start calling HID bulbs "xenon bulbs"? For the simple reason that one of the main components of a high-intensity discharge bulb is xenon gas, known as Xe on the periodic tables of elements.
